RS Technical Insights (educational; not vehicle defects)
The RS5's naturally aspirated 4.2 FSI V8 uses direct fuel injection. Because fuel is injected
directly into the cylinders rather than washing over the backs of the intake valves, oil vapour
and crankcase deposits can gradually accumulate on the valves. Heavy build-up can restrict
airflow and contribute to rough running, hesitation or reduced performance. A professional
intake-valve carbon clean removes these deposits and helps restore unobstructed airflow.
This particular RS5 has had a full carbon clean carried out, an important maintenance benefit
for a high-revving FSI V8. Its S tronic dual-clutch gearbox also relies on appropriate oil
servicing, while suspension joints, dampers and brakes should be assessed as part of
routine ownership. Confirm carbon-clean documentation before publication.
