RS Technical Insights (educational; not vehicle defects)
The A7's 3.0 BiTDI V6 uses exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to reduce combustion
temperatures and nitrogen-oxide emissions. Over time, soot and oil vapour can form
deposits in the EGR and intake system, potentially affecting airflow and drivability. Its diesel
particulate filter (DPF) traps exhaust soot and periodically regenerates by burning it off;
repeated short journeys and prolonged idling can interrupt regeneration and increase soot
loading. Fuel-pressure faults require proper live-data diagnosis rather than assumptions
about the pump or injectors. The eight-speed Tiptronic also benefits from appropriate fluid
maintenance; this A7's gearbox was serviced at approximately 71,000 and 100,000 miles.
This particular car has undergone a Stage 1 engine remap and an EGR delete, which should
be disclosed clearly as modifications rather than presented as factory specification.
Important: an EGR delete can make a road-going vehicle non-compliant with UK emissions
requirements; confirm legal compliance and MOT implications before advertising or offering
the car for road use. Do not claim the modification is road legal without evidence. Verify
remap details and all service records before publication.
