The C8 RS7's 48-volt mild-hybrid system supports energy recuperation and stop/start
operation through a belt-driven starter-generator (often referred to as the alternator). If the
starter-generator or associated charging system develops a fault, the vehicle can display
electrical-system warnings and may eventually lose charging capability. Diagnosis should
include fault memory, battery condition, voltage and charging-system checks; replacement is
not automatically required for every warning. The 4.0 TFSI V8 also relies on a complex
cooling circuit, and a failing water pump can cause coolant leaks, overheating or cooling-
system faults. On this particular RS7, both the alternator/starter-generator and water pump
have been replaced, addressing two potentially significant maintenance expenses. Ignition
coils and spark plugs, air suspension and electronic control systems remain sensible routine
inspection areas. Verify replacement invoices and parts identification before publication.
